WEDNESDAY
We are here in Rome travelled well from Paris big day as we arrive everywhere with time on our side . Paris airport is quit different eye catching. Arrival in Rome was easy. From above the land is like a big green carpet, The warm air temp was also waiting for us 18 degrees. First view of city was impressive, old and new didn’t take too much in, will do tomorrow. Checked into hotel headed out to eat, just forget to eat sometimes, like an excited kid have to get on with it. My friend and constant companion diabetes doesn’t like that, and constantly Robs me of energy, but I won’t give in mmm. So today the games begin here in ROME amazing that I have finally made it. Have to say having an Italian speaking wife is fantastic, the hotel manager said to me as we left in search of food YOUR IN GOOD HANDS DON’T WORRY . I guess most know that, male thing don’t like to accept that I too have a fabulous wife. So let the day begin
Mare and brian
THURSDAY
Today walked a million miles again SPAINISH STEPS that was good lots of people all around these steps Indians giving you roses loving you then coming after you wanting cash. From these steps you can go into any top label shop you want, they are all here. Yes we did them all again. From there to the 3 coins in a fountain TREVI FOUNTAIN quiet spectacular many people stayed for a while through some coins in and made some wishes. Lunch was next up, was so hungry, the Italian food is very good. Back to the hotel sucking it all up as we went. Had a short sleep and then headed to the big park VILLA BORGHESE was a nice walk still and peaceful, dinner next, great pizza and lasagna special and finally bed.
FRIDAY
Vatican City today via the Metro yes feeling confident in Roma . Won’t fill u in on the journey but we did arrive. Unfortunate for Mary no blessing so could for fill requests, but did find some holy water so put my hand in the holy water in good faith. Its a special place no doubt about that the atmosphere must be something very different for Sunday mass. The Sistine Chapel was magnificent however St Peters is absolute in its presence. I have never before seen anything like this, there are no words within me to describe this structure and its contents, it’s certainly something that will live in my mind. From there we headed home via Metro had dinner, the day has now come to its end. tomorrow the Colosseum and an open top bus ride see what happens Cioa for now .
SATURDAY
The open bus was fantastic gave me some perception of location. Roma is a pretty place I like it here. The buildings the small streets the people seem friendly and happy.
The Colosseum dominates as I have always been a dreamer this place make my imagination run, had to do some research when I got home as I always saw myself as a gladiator. But it was not quite like Russel Crow but the training, diet, and fighting skills are of interest. Was interesting to note, there was a period where women were also gladiators that fought for their life.
Tomorrow we leave for Venice should be nice looking forward too so Arrivaverci Roma
